This radar image from the KTLX radar in central Oklahoma shows a cold front moving through the state. There is not much of a temperature gradient with this front, but it is significantly drier behind the front.
The front shows up on the radar image when there is a large density gradient across the front, causing energy to be returned to the radar. The moisture gradient is the cause in this case.
